Chapter 5 - Story

Again, I read ahead. I want to get most of it done so that I don't lose sleep and get weak. I'm still pretty sick, so I have to take it easy. I really enjoyed this chapter. I think that this is really where the book picks up. Stories are insanely important when it comes to art. Pieces of artwork are their own little stories--their own little narratives in themselves. It's true what he said about paying attention to the narrative more than the facts. I entirely paid more attention to that little story! And when we retell things, we normally have to put them into context and give a story. I always have to explain myself this way, or I confuse myself and the person I'm explaining whatever I'm saying to. It was a short and concise chapter, and I didn't feel that there was any unnecessary tongue waggling. He was pretty dead on with his ideas, in my honest opinion. THIS END PART IS WAY BETTER, GUYS.

I do not believe that the future of the western world, basically, rests in the hands of graphic designers and illustrators alike. The entire designing market is saturated heavily. People are moving away from the cubical jobs and stay at home mom duties...this may be partly due to the things Pink outlined in Chapter Three (Abundance, Automation, and Asia), so he does make some valid points. However. This is a big however, mind you. This doesn't just go for America. This goes for the entire world. Everyone wants to design video game characters, now. Everyone wants to be a graphic artist. Everyone wants to paint digital paintings. This might be the way of the future, but it's already entirely clogged and almost completely realized. I am disliking the way this book flows more and more...and am finding myself at odds with Pink. I feel like I'm reading a ...
