Chapter 6

Symphony I adored this chapter, simply put. This is my favorite, I think, out of all of them. This is where I got the idea for the metaphor list. I think symbols are vital in art making, and metaphors are symbol creators. One thing standing for another. I loved his description of his portrait progression. I use symbols in all my drawings that aren't for school. I tend to want to draw what I think it should be, not what they are. When I'm not observing some one or some thing while I draw, I create a stylized, idealized version of it. I have to work on firming up my realistic drawing skills, even if it bores the ever loving crap out of me. This chapter was just...great. Great. Simply great. I even made a metaphor (sortof) list with the help of some friends! All the world's a stage. The apple of my eye. I don't feel rooted. Women are the devil. If you can't have an inner and outer dialog about the piece, be it conceptual, visual, symbolic, etc, then...what are you looking at? Do you have a clear understanding of the artist’s work from the presentation?: Yes. He shows the point of view of various animals. He shows them almost like he's doing a character study on a person. I adore his work. As Meredith said "It's conservation work, but also artwork. His purpo...
