CHP 7 Response
I enjoyed this chapter overall, as I agree that people need to empathize with others more. I may swear like a sailor, but I still try to include other people and be 'emotionally intelligent'. It's important, really. Not because it will help me get ahead, but because common courtesy and respect make the world a better place. Doing something nice, even just smiling at someone, will brighten up their day. And they might smile at someone else, so that makes the world a better place. Wow I feel like a giant hippie. :)
I feel almost as though this book wants to stroke my ego too much. I'm a woman, and because of this, I generally empathize more than the males that I know, simply because of my gender. I'm an artist (or at least I'm trying to be), so I am generally more right-brained than I am left brained (but I like to think I have a happy balance)....
so...Pink just keeps trying to stroke my ego. Stroke the ego of all the people who empathize and use their right brain more than their left. He keeps saying things like "this is not to say that having a completely right brain is the way to go" and he keeps saying we need a balance, but he's not exactly showing it.
I don't know. I just don't think I like it very much. I loved the metaphor list, and even CHP6 was awesome, but ...eh.
